Banned!

Problem sorted. I have been banned from the Edinburgh Otherside group. I wonder why he just doesn't take the hint and stop sending me the bloody emails in the first place!

I went on to the group this morning and made a comment about why can't he stop sending me these emails. I was going to take further steps tonight but in between then and now he has banned me from the group. This is the 2nd group he has banned me from after emailing me ad nauseam about it so I don't understand why he doesn't learn his lesson. Stupid man! One of these days someone will report him to the police for harrassing them.

I don't know what the legal position in Scotland is, but in England you could take out an injunction under the Protection from Harassment Act so long as you could show a 'course of conduct'; this is two or more instances of what a reasonable person would count as harassing behaviour. Breaking the terms of such an injunction (which might be 'not to contact you') would be a criminal offence.

Alternatively, there would be the Malicious Communications Act, but this definitely doesn't apply in Scotland, and I don't know if there is a Scottish equivalent.

Some people have been in touch with me. He's been doing this with a lot of people, mostly women, but it seems moves are afoot to get him sorted. I'll see what happens.

maybe he has your addy in his address book (and has forgotten this) and is actually just sending a mass email to "all", not to you specifically - and wonders what the heck you're talking about?

No, he's been doing this a lot. And the fact that he has banned me from groups and then emailed me all over again means he is deliberately doing this.
