Right, that's the most recent Harry Potter crossed off the to do list. I wasn't terribly fussed about seeing it, I've read all the books and find the films progressively boring. I was in town today so I decided to take a look in at Cineworld in passing to see what the queues were like. It looked quiet so as I had carried out what I had planned to do in town I decided to get Harry Potter dealt with as well.

It did go on for rather a long time. I don't think it's a film for young kids anymore. There were a number of them displaying distinct signs of boredom, including one who appeared to be trying to look into the pensieve in Dumbledore's study by pressing her face right up to the screen. She suddenly popped up at the bottom left hand corner of the screen, a bit like the irritating furry red devil who pastes up announcements of what's on next on Virgin 1, except that she was a very small girl wearing a yellow hard hat. (Who puts their child in a yellow hard hat to go to the cinema?)

I think the films don't hold my attention anymore, having finished the books. I now know the fate of the characters. I'm also less than enamoured by the author and her recent hissy fit. That has also put me off. I certainly won't be reading any other books she may bring out.

I was rather surprised to find that quite a few people hadn't read the books, judging by the comments I heard at the end.

I'm going in the morning. I haven't been able to finish a HP book since she ditched her editor and they turned into coffee table sized volumes. So I'll see the films out just to finish the story (and for the 3d)

my daughters and i have read all the books as well. and they are completely drawn into the movies still. iin fact we just got back from watching it.

i think us mature folks are just a bit more jaded or something.

I haven't read all the books - actually I read one of the early ones and found her writing style not to my taste - but I have enough friends who read them avidly and won't shut up about the stories that I'm mostly clued up. I could tell that this movie probably lost more in translation than some others.

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with the movie either and I think the director was the reason why.
I do love the 7th book and I hope they do it justice, well, one can hope...

I gave up on the books after the 3rd, as I found they were getting progressively duller. I've seen the movies and thought they were ok, so I probably will go to this one, althought I'm in no great rush.

i liked all the books but thought the film was shite, there was nothing really left from the book, i was soo looking forward to the big scence ate the end when everyone is fighting, but that didn't happen, i do hope that the deathly hallows is much better
