Things have been quiet for a while. I thought that the message had penetrated his particularly thick head. I was wrong. Tonight I returned home to find another bloody email! This time I decided to go public. I joined the forum in order to post the following message:

I have REPEATEDLY asked that you stop harrassing me with all these bloody emails inviting me to this that and the other. If I was interested I would have dones something. Instead I have been deleting them up to the date when I received no less that FOUR emails over the course of one day.

I asked you to stop emailing me, you ignored me and sent another, I asked you agian to stop and yet you persisted. I have sent no less than FOUR requests to STOP HARRASSING ME and yet here we are again. Yet another bloody email!

This time I have joined purely to point out to you and everyone else that I am not interested and to STOP HARRASSING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe he will be sufficiently embarrassed. Maybe not. But I will not put up with this nonsense.

He has now banned me from his group. Hopefully this means that he will stop emailing me. It shouldn't have had to come to this but he clearly had no intention of paying attention to me otherwise.

You don't have to put up with it. Sometimes you can scare them off by opening a police file on them, so save the emails or print them out if he keeps it up. And let him know you're doing.

There are also possibilities under the antiterrorist laws; we used the threat of those against my middle niece's college roommate, who was saying dangerous stuff online about her and inciting others to hurt her or even kill her. (The offender was hauled up before the university brass and she never returned; my niece graduated happily 3 years later.)

The cops don't do a damn thing, of course (I've got files going on my own stalkers), but the threat might be enough for the creep to knock it off.

An hour after I posted on his site he banned me from it so he can't say he hasn't got the message. Hopefully this will be an end to it.

I had been deleting his emails until the day I got four of them which is when I decided it was getting ridiculous. I had been warned about him by someone who knew someone else who had been harassed by him but I didn't think he would be stupid enough to try it with me. Having asked him to stop four times, with increasingly annoyed language, I had thought he had got the message as he had been quiet since Easter until today. Now he can't say he didn't know.

Sadly, the UK police are only just realising this. Too often, it's classed as a "domestic" and forgotten about -- till someone dies.
