The weekend
Mar. 26th, 2012 06:42 amI spent the weekend in Saltcoats. The home care is in place now and going in four times a day. They are seeing to my mother's personal care and that she is receiving her medication. Hopefully, this will help to get my mother away from the previous situation of relying heavily on one person which was something which had been concerning me for some time.
On Sunday morning I had to deal with a blocked toilet. Luckily my mother had a plunger in the cupboard so it was a simple matter to unblock it. Having a plunger was a bit of a surprise as I have had problems trying to located basic stuff, such as screwdrivers, in the past. If there hadn't been one I would have had to improvise with a plastic drinks bottle (cut the bottom off, use as a plunger with the top screwed on).
I was slightly miffed when my mother said that if it had happened when her friend was there she would have got it sorted. I pointed out that *I* got it sorted and that I did exactly what her friend would have done. The implication seemed to be that Superfriend would have known even before it blocked and would have zoomed to the rescue, or something like that.
Anyway, things were calm, there were no arguments, so I guess that was OK. I hope that the home care goes well and that there's no hiccups. My mother had a clash of personality with one of the evening carers but that seems to have been dealt with by not putting that person on the rota. So, fingers crossed.
