Trout issues
Mar. 29th, 2009 01:15 pmLast night I posted a message in
glasgow_fen as well as on the Trout group on Facebook. This is what I said:
“April is almost upon us so I thought I would take this opportunity to remind everyone that Trout will be taking place on the second Thursday of the month which is Thursday April 9th. It will be in the Cask & Still as usual from 7.00pm onwards.
Eastercon begins the next day so some may not be at the pub if they are travelling down on the Thursday but the rest of us will be.
Be seeing you!”
This post was immediately deleted with a message telling me that there would be two Trouts in April, that most people had agreed to this, and that only one person expressed dissatisfaction with this. I was told not to post confusing messages.
I then posted another message which said ”Regardless of the fact that some may be meeting in the Cask & Still on the 2nd April this does not detract from the fact that Trout will be meeting on the second Thursday as usual. This means that Trout will be meeting on Thursday April 9th, the night before Eastercon, from 7.00pm onwards in the Cask & Still.”
This message was also deleted with a message reminding me that Trout is not anyone's property. My posting access to the group was also removed at that point. It has not been reinstated at this time. *
I do not recall hearing any discussion about two Trouts in April, the first I heard about it was when a post was made to
glasgow_fen announcing the fact.
tanngrisnir has made a decision to meet on the 2nd April because he is going to Eastercon on the Thursday but it would seem that everyone else is going to have Trout on the usual Trout night of the second Thursday of the month. Of course, as he behaves as if I am invisible and refuses to speak to me, it's no surprise I was unaware of any such discussion.
The subsequent post on the Trout group discussing this meeting unfortunately cannot be seen by anyone outside the group as the initial post is f-locked.
Trout is not one person's property and will not be dictated to by one person, as the fake Bob Shaw learned years ago. Others should take note.
*edit: It seems that I can comment on posts but not make an initial post.
