The PF have announced that they are cancelling the convention which was due to be held in September in London. The following message is the explanation.
Dear All,
I regret to have to announce that this year's PF International
Convention, scheduled for September 24th, will not now go ahead.
Because of concerns about public safety, on-going disruption to
public
transport and the subsequent withdrawal of some speakers, the PF
Committee has agreed with the conference organisers to cancel this
event.
All monies paid will be automatically refunded.
We greatly regret any inconvenience or disappointment caused by this
decision, but trust that the reasons for it will be understood.
Please ensure that this is passed on to your members/included in
newsletters etc.
We will,of course, keep an eye on developments, and hopefully carry
over
our plans for next year.
Blessings - Amergin
What sort of an excuse is that? London is getting back to normal and will certainly be OK by September. Other groups will continue to run events in London regardless of what happened on July 7th. In fact the monthly 1st Thursday of the month meeting of the London Science Fiction fans still managed to take place on July 7th, albeit with only a handful of members who were still in the city centre. But they still managed to get together!
Are the PF allowing the bombers to win? Or is this an excuse? I know that certain PF people have problems with people volunteering to help the organisation and make up lies about them being "abrasive" but this is ridiculous.
