Yesterday in Borders

Yesterday in Borders I saw someone who had once been a friend, someone who I had lost contact with about the time of my husband leaving. He was a science fiction fan when I first knew him but in the years that have gone by things seem to have changed. I had heard he had got religious but I didn't realise just how religious until I saw him in Borders with a stonking big wooden cross hanging around his neck!
I would have gone and said hello but the cross really put me off. I don't think he would have all too appreciative of the pentagram hanging round my neck and I really have no time for people who try to convert you. I think I was quite shocked really. He never seemed the type to do that sort of thing and I can't help wondering what the hell happened?

Ignorance is bliss, and people who are afraid will surrender to anything, however nonsensical, stupid, hateful, or absurd, to find a sense of "certainty" in an uncertain world. They will also sacrifice good sense for acceptance. This world has a way of seperating the people who live according to what is right, from those who live according to what is easy.
