A Bifrost coloured jumper and a spot of Paranormal Activity
I went into the city centre today for a wander around, no specific goal in mind apart from maybe going to see a film. I wandered into the Xmas market in St Enoch Square and ended up treating myself to a woolly rainbow jumper which matches my rainbow hat I bought last year. As I walked away from the stall I bumped into
trsa and
brenmacneil. So we ended up wandering round the market together before heading off to YoSushi in Buchanan St where we met up with Jen and Scott for lunch.
I love sushi ginger and I love miso soup so YoSushi was ideal. We sat at the counter and watched the choices pass by on the conveyor belts, picking items that took our fancy. There were plenty of vegetarian choices to be had so it's a place I'd quite like to return to at some point. Afterwards
brenmacneil headed off to Tam Shepherd's Joke Shop with Scott and Jen while
trsa and myself headed to Cineworld where he went to see Avatar and I went to see Paranormal Activity.
This was my third attempt to see this film as things happened to get in my way on previous occasions. Did I like it? Well......
I'd heard a mixture of views about the film. Some people found it scary, others weren't so impressed. Other than that I didn't know the story or anything else.
It's about a couple who are harassed by an entity (ideally I'd like to use the word "wight" but not everyone understands the meaning of the word) who seems to have become attached to or focussed on the woman from an early age. They didn't know who or what it was but seem to have decided quite early on that it was a demon, a decision apparently influenced by the Big Book of Comic Demons which had been bought by the man for research. Of course, it had to have the standard picture of Baphomet in it for effect. It did occur to me that perhaps this entity was equally pissed off about being attached to the woman and that perhaps its antics were attempts on its part to get her out of its life. However, I guess not everyone tries to see the problem from the alien's point of view.
It was better than the Exorcist in that it didn't rely on disappointingly bad special effects to impress although I nearly burst out laughing at one point when the woman who was being hassled by the entity walked towards the stairs. I half-expected her to do the spider walk.
When the entity walked through the powder spread on the floor and left footprints I was trying to work out why it seemed to have three toes on each foot. Then it occurred to me that these marks could also be made by someone walking on their hands while doing the Vulcan salute.
But why would it do that? Then again, why would it leave marks when it seemed perfectly capable of walking through walls etc whenever it felt like it? Why hide in the loft? And what's with the apparent rule that paranormal activity only takes place at night? Why can't you have activity at any time of the day, or don't you notice it so much? Hmm,I guess I think too much at times.
I was getting quite bored so actually managed to miss the big "scarey" bit at the end as I was looking at my watch trying to work out how long it had to go!
