Back from the shops with zombies

Back in from my wander with a few bits and pieces from town, including "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pride_and_Prejudice_and_Zombies It's what it says on the tin. Some one was telling me about it at Trout on Thursday and I happened to come across it in Fopp today. Even though I have more than enough books to be going on with I decided to buy it.
I haven't read "Pride and Prejudice". I seem unable to bring myself to read any Jane Austen beyond the first page. I think it's due to the same reason as why I always found it so hard to get through any assigned book at school. I have no problem in reading books I choose to read, I can easily get through a book in an afternoon if no one interrupts me, but being told to read something in order to dissect it for literary purposes takes all the fun out of it. All the hoo ha over Jane Austen being great English literature just seems to spoil it for me. Nor have I seen the film or any TV production for the same reason, even if Colin Firth was in it!
I've made a start on the book and so far, so good. Who knows? Maybe it will encourage me to eventually read the original!
