Equinox Sunday
Mar. 21st, 2010 09:38 pmIt's the weekend of the Spring Equinox. The weather is beginning take a turn for the better and become decidedly spring-like. This is all to the good. It will soon be time to think of camping and assorted Viking activities.
About eleven o'clock last Tuesday evening my mother phoned to say that my father had been taken into hospital. It seems that they had both suffered nasty after effects of a meal eaten at a local supermarket's cafe. However my father seemed to react more extremely to it and collapsed in the house that evening. So my mother had to phone for an ambulance. She accompanied him to the hospital but was then faced with having to get the bus back as the car had been left behind at the house. Hence the reason why she called me so late at night.
He was released the next day. It seems to have been something to do with what they ate but they're not sure exactly what as the hospital doesn't appear to have been very clear about it. In any case, I decided to go down to see them today as opposed to attending any equinox rituals that were on. My mother still seems a bit under the weather but my father seems to have got over whatever it was.
I took my laptop with me as I wanted to show them their house as captured on Google street view. The car went past the day they were getting some work done on the roof so it shows two guys on ladders. I was also going to register their mobile with the network but that won't work as they don't have email. They don't have a computer, never mind email!
Anyway, things seem to have settled down although they both don't feel like doing too much just now. I got them some chips from the local Chinese and then headed home.
