Boxing Day Avatar
Dec. 26th, 2009 08:37 pmI went to see "Avatar" this afternoon.
I have to say that I was impressed with the 3D effects. I've avoided 3D films for a very long time as the last one I saw was "Friday 13th", many years ago. I always found wearing the glasses to be very annoying, with the feeling of being half-blinkered, I even gave up trying to watch Channel 4's recent 3D season because of them. However the glasses issued for Avatar are different and I managed to keep them on without wanting to rip them off my face and throw them far away from me.
I enjoyed the film. I wouldn't go as far as to rave over it. The effects are very well done but the story is oh so predictable as far as I'm concerned.
I ended up in the cinema as I had thought I would go to the shops today, expecting things to be back to normal after Xmas. However, they weren't. My plan was to go to Marks and Spencer's to use the vouchers my parents had given me for Xmas. I was a bit surprised to find that they were closed, as were the other people who were peering in through the doors trying to find some notice which would tell them when they were likely to be open. So I wandered about for a bit, going via Lush where I picked up some goodies.
I might have wandered some more but my foot was giving me gyp so I made my way to Cineworld. I'm suffering a flare up of Morton's neuroma in my left foot. It's basically the nerves being squashed between the bones of my third and fourth toes. It can be very painful and there's also an unpleasant sensation in the tip of my fourth toe which is best describe as similar to the sensation if you bite down on foil with filled teeth. It's been set off by having to wear my hillwalking boots in the snow. I suffered bouts of it before when I used to run so I've had to get the foam supports to put onto my toes which will hopefully deal with it. It's rather annoying. If anyone has any other solutions I'd appreciate it.
