Goodbye Mr Blue Sky
Dec. 8th, 2009 12:05 pmHow do I say this? I am redundant. The final meeting was this morning, at which they told me they had not come up with a solution and that they would regrettably have to make me redundant. They gave me a letter which detailed what I would be paid. There's no redundancy payment as I hadn't been there for the required two years. I took the news as best I could, then went out, cleared my desk and said my goodbyes.
Tomorrow I start a new job.
I got a phone call on Monday about one of the interviews from last week. They want to start me on a one month trial. If they like me they'll keep me on. If not, well, it's a temp job until something else comes along. However, I plan to make sure they like me.
I didn't say anything about this job during the meeting. In my head I've already moved on so I went into the meeting thinking that the worst case scenario would be that they wanted me to stay! However, if this new job hadn't come up I would not be in a good mood, although not in a state of panic - yet. I hope the new job works out.
For the Heathens reading this, I wonder if there's any significance to the fact I'll be starting on the ninth day of the month on a Wednesday?
