What I will be doing at the weekend(s)
Aug. 20th, 2009 08:20 pmI am now off for a long weekend. Tomorrow I head to Lanark http://www.lanarkmedievalfestival.co.uk/ to go a-Viking and also get very wet, if the forecast is to be believed. So I guess that means the tent will end up draped over the banister in the close when I come home! I was thinking about blagging space in the Living History tents but it might be as well if I bring my own tent with me anyway. I must remember to get some more waterproofing for my shoes. I've been rubbing the soles with pumice in order to roughen them up a bit so I don't go skiting across the ground. If it's wet it also means there will be more people "dieing" on top of their shields than under them.
The following Saturday is Pagancon. http://www.pagancon.co.uk/ I've been asked to run the raffle at it so it looks as though I'll be busy. Then the weekend after that is the main Battle of Largs at the Pencil. http://www.largsvikingfestival.com/
Is there anything I've forgotten? Probably something, but as long as I've not double-booked myself I should be fine.
In addition to all of the above there are the usual moots going on, as well as Trout. I recently came across someone who was under the impression that one of the moots had folded. That could be due to it changing its name to Ursa Major, but I had thought I'd got the word out about up to date moot info. I've tried to make sure that people find the up to date info wherever possible, but there are a few factors outwith my control. Still, the Glasgow Pagans group on Facebook seems to be working best of all. The same can be said of the Trout Facebook group as well.
