Glad not to work at HP!
Mar. 5th, 2009 07:30 amI am now very glad to no longer be working at HP afer reading that they are trying to make their staff take a pay cut. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/02/19/hp_pay_cuts/
This comes a few years after they effectively made all their Glasgow staff take pay cuts by moving the contact centre from the city centre out to wilds of Erskine where public transport is a joke. There's no bus to the HP site, which is reached by travelling along country roads with no lighting and no pavements. When I was there they persuaded one local bus service to pick up from Bishopton train station in the morning, and divert to the site in the evening for the return journey. However, if the train is late the bus leaves without all the people trying to get to work, leaving them to shell out for a local taxi. This is on top of the increased travel costs incurred by the move. I assume that this is still the case.
OK, I know they could turn round and say that an even bigger pay cut would be to sack people but this really does show the kind of attitude they have towards those who work for them.
