I woke up on Saturday morning with the beginnings of a cold. I had rather hoped it would restrict its nastiness to my head and sinuses and so it did, until I went to work today. It was just a simple sinus cold but it has become a bit more severe, giving me a thumping headache, and moving into my chest. I had rather hoped to avoid that as chest colds really do seem to take hold with me. I can put up with the headache, and the general feeling of malaise, but feeling as though I've been swimming and swallowed a faceful of water in the wrong direction is rather unpleasant. I was finding breathing slightly difficult this afternoon but I knew how to deal with it by breathing shallowly until I had enough air to cough with to clear it. Not panicking is also best but I can't guarantee that's not going to be my response if I waken up at 3.00am with it. So I guess I'd better sleep with lots of raised pillows under me tonight. I suppose taking something for it would help as well. I tend to forget that there are actually things out there that will help with aches and pains etc. I'm stupid that way.

Anyway, moan over. On Saturday I had planned to go to see "Alice in Wonderland" and "Green Zone" with the cinema meet-up group. I saw the first one, which I enjoyed, but missed "Green Zone" due to the fact that I ended up at the "Star Wars" concert at the SECC instead. This was because someone in the group had a spare ticket as he had been given them as Xmas pressies. I thoroughly enjoyed the concert but I think the display of props and costumes could have been better laid out to allow people to see them properly. It was a bit of a free for all.

The place was extremely busy. There's an awful lot of "Star Wars" fans out there. I think that the SECC was the only venue in Scotland so I rather suspect people came from all over. Some turned up in costume. I even saw a Jedi Elvis!

I'm going to bed early tonight, wrapped up well, with a good book. The newest one in the Oathsworn series is out and I got my grubby little paws on it in Waterstone's today! http://www.robert-low.com/

With reference to the quandary I was in in my last post, thanks to all who posted. I have sent a card to his mother. I guess that's all I can do.
