Please tell me it's not real!!!!
Nov. 8th, 2006 07:24 amI like Landover Baptist Church http://www.landoverbaptist.org/ Their site can be a bit too obvious at times but sometimes they come up with some really funny gems. What amuses me is that some people cannot tell that it's satire and get really steamed up about it.
There are a few sites objecting to Landover Baptist. I found a site claiming to be one such called Objective: Landover Baptist Shutdown http://objectiveministries.org/shutdown/ which has some really bizarre stuff on it to the extent I'm not sure if it's a parody as well. The site begins with The Internet was created by the United States of America - a Christian nation - and should not be used to spread anti-Christian, secular, or non-Christian propaganda and hatespeech. This is our Internet, and we should exercise our position as its owners and as the guardians of civilization to stop its misuse.
It has some very strange adverts at the bottom of the page such as one for Straight Pride with the slogan "Show your pride, get a bride! Got a womb? Get a groom!" Or how about some "Armour of God" pyjamas?
Then it really gets bizarre with their anti-occult pages hhttp://objectiveministries.org/antioccult/ where they report that they "infiltrated" a coven of Druids and state My many years of experience have taught me that Druids can be very dangerous if confronted. If you suspect Druidic activities in your neighborhood, contact your Church and have them send a team of trained Occult investigators to assess the situation and, if Druids are discovered, suggest a course of remediation.
Or take a look at their reclaiming Halloween page http://objectiveministries.org/antioccult/halloween.html where they suggest that you dress up as Biblical characters with an illustration of John the Baptist accompanied by the text "BOO! I'm John the Baptist, and these are my many exciting exploits..." or the suggestion that you share your faith with carved vegetables.
I could go on but I do have things to do. If it's trying to counter Landover Baptist's site it's not succeeding. It's a parody of a parody. Surely it can't be real? Please tell me it's not!
