A quiet Sunday in????
I don't know what's been going on this weekend but last night there seemed to be an awful lot of noise off and on throughout the night, with some burglar alarm going off at 5.00am. Dozed off again but was wakened by the guys digging the large deep trench in front of the building. I didn't think they would be working on Sundays - just as well it's not the Western Isles.
Then I realised that we had no power! So I went trooping off downstairs to find out why. It wasn't them, it was a fault at the substation, according to ScottishPower who tried to chicken out by putting an automated message on their phone line telling us we had a problem! As if we were unaware of this! Eventually it was sorted at 11.20am but we'd had to make coffee on the gas cooker by candlight as our kitchen is an internal one with no window. Just as well we're pagans with lots of candles about the place! :-)
Meanwhile the trench diggers downstairs have been keeping us "entertained" with a variety of noises. They seem to have gone now and it's quiet again. I suppose it makes a change from being wakened up by the anti-social numpties who live next door and who seem to think that coming home at 5.00am gives them the right to play music loudly and shout at each other. That is, when they are not also banging the headboard off the wall. I also think that they are the ones leaving their rubbish inside the close instead of taking it out to the bin shelter. Currently they have left 5 bags front of the door and in this heat they are smelly. Nice people, aren't they?
